Dasha Based on Birth Nakshatra

Your birth Nakshatra (Moon’s position) determines which planet’s Dasha you’re born into.

Pattern: Notice the cycle repeats every 9 Nakshatras:

• 1, 10, 19 → Ketu
• 2, 11, 20 → Venus
• 3, 12, 21 → Sun
• And so on…

Balance of Dasha at Birth

Important Concept:

You’re rarely born at the exact beginning of a Dasha. Usually, you’re born partway through a planet’s Dasha.

Example:

• If born in Bharani Nakshatra (Venus Dasha = 20 years)
• You might be born with only 15 years of Venus Dasha remaining
• The first 5 years of the Venus Dasha period have already “elapsed” based on your exact degree in the Nakshatra

How to Calculate Balance:

Each Nakshatra = 13°20’ (divided into 4 padas of 3°20’ each)

Formula: Balance of Dasha = (Remaining degrees in Nakshatra / Total degrees) × Total Dasha period

Example Calculation:

• Born in Rohini Nakshatra at 12° (Moon Dasha = 10 years)
• Rohini spans 10°00’ to 23°20’ in Taurus
• If Moon is at 12° in Taurus, you’ve covered 2° of Rohini
• Remaining: 11°20’ out of 13°20’
• Balance = (11°20’ / 13°20’) × 10 years ≈ 8.5 years of Moon Dasha remaining

Understanding Antardashas

Each Mahadasha is divided into 9 Antardashas (sub-periods), one for each planet.

Structure:

• Each planet’s Mahadasha has 9 Antardashas
• The first Antardasha is always of the Mahadasha lord itself
• Then proceeds in the standard order: Ketu → Venus → Sun → Moon → Mars → Rahu → Jupiter → Saturn → Mercury

Duration Formula: Antardasha duration = (Mahadasha years × Antardasha years) / 120
